Sometimes you need to use a baseball bat.

As I continue to move forward in my transition, I keep battling within myself that I am, in fact, transgender and that physically changing my gender is the only solution for me…but, with absolute certainty, it is.

I am in this deep dark hole of fear right now as I think about sharing this reality with them. I have successfully hidden it for 65 years and I fear I will need to use an emotional baseball bat on some of them to get them to understand.

Here is what I came up with. I sincerely hope that I won’t have to use it.

10 Questions for Cisgender Family Members:

1. Do you believe that gender dysphoria and being transgender is real? If not, ask me to help you with the medical facts not the propaganda that denies I exist. I do, I truly do exist and I can prove it.

2. Have you taken the time to understand what gender dysphoria and transgender is and why I am in so much pain? You would take that time if I told you I had cancer, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease.

3. If I told you there was a cure for this extraordinary pain, would you deny me access?

4. What can I do to help you understand what I am going through? I will do anything to help you.
