Tony I think that you are well intentioned but I believe that your vision that there is "a huge, amorphous mass of weird people called 'trans' looming out there." is misplaced. I guess I also don't like the description "weird" either.

Each person in that group is fighting their own personal battle to find who they are while they are battling a medical condition. Ignorance societal hate makes the proecess harder. All most want is to be accepted and left alone.

There are mentally ill people in all walks of life. Some are transgender but don't brand an entire group that is dealing with a medical condition. Given the cost of medical care, the vast majority of transgender people can't even get proper a medical diagnosis or the level of medical care like I have.
